About UKA

Who We Are

Founded in 2019, the Undergraduate Korean Association (UKA) at the University of Texas at Austin is one of the largest non-profit student organizations on campus. We welcome everyone with keen interest in Korean culture, and strive to preserve Korean culture and language in our community.  UKA also create an environment for establishing lifelong friendships and professional careers by hosting various social, cultural, professional events and campus-wide events such as the K-festival.

HOW TO BECOME A UKA MEMBER

Step 1

Submit a Membership Application

Applications will be available after the first GM.

Step 2

Pay Membership Due

Make sure to check Early bird payment due dates!

Step 3

Submit the Payment Form

This form must be submitted after paying your membership fees.

Step 4

Check your Membership Status 

After you have completed the first three steps, you would be able to check your membership status at the next general meeting.

General Q&As about UKA

Why should I join?

UKA hosts exciting events and gives its members a community to connect with new people and make lifelong friends. We also have sports teams, families (Famfams), and multiple activity clubs (Dongaris) that members can freely join.

Do I have to be Korean to join?

No!  UKA promotes cultural diversity and inclusion through the diffusion of Korean culture and language. We welcome anyone who have interest in Korean culture to join and have fun.

Do I have to speak Korean to join?

No!  All of our general meetings will be served both in English and Korean. Also, most of our members can speak English, so if you need translations for some parts please feel free to reach out to anyone. 

Do I have to be a UKA member to join an Activity Club?

Yes, you MUST be a UKA member to join any activity clubs (dongaris). This includes completing all the processes included above such as paying the membership dues and filling out all the forms.
